The National Council of the Environment and of the Sustainable Development/CNADS includes an Executive Secretary, Dr. Maria Adília Lopes, who has been in the post since February 2009, a technical adviser, Dr. Liliana Leitão, and an administrative secretary, Filomena Passarinho, who supports the Chairman and the Council in the exercise of his duties.

The Executive Secretary is appointed by the Minister responsible for the Environment following a proposal by the Chairman.
